My Story

I have a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in economics and a master's degree in teaching with a business concentration. I have taught high school for two years, middle school for four years, and I have been a district instructional technology coach for one year. I have also facilitated coding clubs and Ed Farm Student Fellows, as well as coached robotics teams. I am a certified Apple Teacher, Apple Teacher- Swift, and Apple Learning Coach. I have also been a guest speaker on the HiTech Podcast discussing CommonSense.org classroom applications. Before teaching, I worked in drug research.

In my free time, when I'm not wrangling my two boys or at a scouting event, I enjoy learning about new and emerging edtech tools that are beneficial for educators and students! I usually then find their training programs and earn a new badge for fun. Haha!

I am the original idea person behind the beginnings of LUSI, but I knew I needed the other half of the dynamic duo with me! We are always supporting each other and finding new avenues to plant seeds and create waves of change in education. LUSI is my dream come true! I strongly believe in voice and choice in our children's education and the changes that need to happen in education. This microschool is one more step towards creating some big waves in the education world. I am so excited to be on this journey with you and your student(s)!

"I believe if we create enough waves of change in education we will be able to sit back and watch ripples of empowerment transform the learning landscape for a brighter tomorrow!"

My Story

I have a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's in adult education and training. I have previously worked for four years as a lab tech and 7 years as a science teacher for middle and high school students. I have also facilitated coding clubs and Ed Farm Student Fellows. I am a certified Apple Teacher, Apple Teacher- Swift, Apple Learning Coach, and Apple Distinguished Educator. I have also been a guest speaker on the HiTech Podcast discussing CommonSense.org classroom applications.

In my free time, when I'm not getting my nails done or cheering on my two boys, I work on developing science curriculum and finding new professional development that involves real-world applications, inquiry-based learning, and collaborative projects.

I am so excited to jump on board and found this school alongside Erica. I have big dreams to see this school to not only benefit the Prattville community, but see the later expansion into other communities who could really benefit from this alternative learning environment.

“I believe in planting seeds of possibility and cultivating community connections to grow a garden of change that flourishes with a vibrant future!”
